Management Certificate in Human Resources

Online Program

We will be delivering a synchronous learning experience via Zoom. With live instructors, we hope to be able to capture a similar experience to our in-class program but in the comfort of your own home! See the dates below or on the registration page.

The Management Certificate Program (MCP) in Human Resources is a professional non-credit program approved by the Senate of Carleton University. Its courses are recognized by the Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario.

Participants will be able to achieve all nine credit coursework requirements to write the Comprehensive Knowledge Exam (CKE1/CKE2) through the HRPA to be eligible for the CHRP and CHRL Designations.  Please refer to the HRPA website to ensure that you meet the additional requirements to write the CKE1/CKE2.

Classes are small, enabling a lively exchange. Courses are facilitated by experts who have not only achieved professional designations in their specialization, but most have also obtained the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation. Participants share knowledge and experiences through group discussions, case study analysis, and interactive presentations.

All courses in the Management Certificate in Human Resources Program are offered on an open enrollment basis.  We highly recommend registration well in advance of the start date of each course as they often reach capacity very quickly.

Admissions & Cost

Program Fees:

Online: $695.00 per course (HST exempt).

Textbook Fees:

Additional costs for textbooks through the Top Hat platform are mandatory for participation in the program ($99 + HST).  Four courses within the program are not delivered through the Top Hat platform and will require the purchase of textbooks through the Carleton University Bookstore.  Prices vary depending on the course content.

A $50.00 + HST fee is required to receive your final certificate upon completion of all 10 courses. Once all courses have been completed, contact CU Future EDge ( to order your certificate (note that certificate will take a few weeks to arrive).

*Attendance at every class is mandatory to meet HRPA’s guidelines for required hours. In-class activities such as participation, quizzes, tests, mid-terms, exams, or presentations require you to be in attendance and cannot be made up through other activities.  Students who are unable to attend class will receive a grade of zero (0) for the missed participation, quiz, test, mid-term, exam, or presentation. In addition, students who are unable to attend a class will be required to complete the weekly group assignment (if applicable) on their own, individually, not as part of their group. Students who miss more than one (1) class will be assigned an incomplete (I) grade. Instructor and Sprott Professional Development’s Program Coordinator must be contacted regarding missed class time.

A maximum number of four course exemptions may be granted if you have completed, within the last ten years, equivalent post-secondary courses at Carleton University or other post-secondary institutions, with a passing grade of 65%.  Non-refundable, per course, exemption application fee $50.00 + HST.  Apply for an exemption request HERE

Course(s) must have been completed at an accredited institution.
• For courses that have been taken outside of Canada, an original equivalency report from WES, ICAS, or CES is required to confirm the institution is accredited.

Please note that an exemption granted by Sprott Professional Development only applies to our program and does not guarantee a similar exemption from the CHRP/CHRL requirements.

*You can complete the courses in any order and at your own pace* Courses run from September to July with a new course each month. Depending on deliverables, some courses will have an exam out of scheduled class time.

Online format: Wednesdays from 6:00pm – 9:00 pm EST & Saturdays from 8:30 AM – 12:30 pm EST. Eight sessions per course.
